Scholarships

The American Headache Society® announces the availability of five 2008 AHS/Merck US Human Health Scholarships. Recipients will receive a complimentary meeting registration and expenses for travel, hotel accommodations and meals to the Scottsdale Headache Symposium®  to be held November 7 -9, 2008 at the Camelback Inn, a JW Marriott Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. They will also receive a one-year Trainee membership to the Society if they are not already a member.

This scholarship program is open to Headache Medicine Fellows, Residents, and/or PhD students who are in the preparatory, active, or completion phase of a basic or clinical research project that is related to headache or cranial nociception. Previous winners within the past two years may not apply.  

The criteria for this award will be based on: (1) the quality of this research proposal; (2) the potential for the proposal, study or thesis to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and future research in the field of headache medicine.

To be considered for this award, US resident applicants must:

  • Present a two page summary of their current or proposed research
  • Be willing to present their proposal or results to attendees at the Scottsdale Headache Symposium® to be held November 7 - 9, 2008 at the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Arizona . Your presentation will be ten-minutes in length. The date and times for the presentations will be sent at a later date.
  • Submit application form and proposal to AHS executive offices no later than 5:00pm on Friday, August 22, 2008.
